Emerald Media is a pan-Asian platform established by KKR to fund investment opportunities in the fast-growing media and entertainment industries across Asia. KKR has committed up to $300mm from its KKR Asian Fund II and The Chernin Group will join as a minority co-investor. Emerald Media is led by industry veterans Paul Aiello and Rajesh Kamat and will be joined by an experienced team of investment and operating executives. Paul and Rajesh together have a combined experience of more than 30 years in the industry and bring a unique blend of operational and investment acumen to their business approach. The platform will primarily focus on providing growth capital to media, entertainment and digital media companies and will look to acquire control or significant minority positions in growing public and private media companies. The platform will look to invest approximately $15-75mm in any investment. Emerald Media will seek to identify subsectors and players in respective countries with strong growth potential based on the team’s deep knowledge and experience in the media, entertainment, and technology industries in Asia. Post-investment, the Emerald team will assist the investee companies in scaling up by providing support across strategy, operations, finance, branding and marketing depending on the needs of each company.
